Gift of Prophecy
Matthew 18:20. What is the true meaning of, “God in the midst of us?”
Joel 2:28-31. How does God promise to speak to us?
Acts 2:14-21. When should we watch for visions and prophets?
Hebrews 1:1-3. How has God spoken to us in the past?
Revelation 12:17. How are the people who have the testimony of Jesus Christ identified?
Revelation 19:10. What is the testimony of Jesus Christ?
1 Thessalonians 5:19-21. What do we do if someone claims to be a prophet?
Isaiah 8:20. If we had a dream or a vision, how would we know if it was from God?
The question is, “does the Holy Spirit still speak to man?” If we believe what we read in Joel then the answer must be yes. Jesus warns us in Matthew 24:24 to watch for false prophets implying that there must also be true prophets.
Very little of what a “prophet” does is make predictions. Most of prophecy is simply passing messages and instructions from God to us. There is a book I would like to introduce you to called Steps to Christ. You can email firstname.lastname@example.org and ask us to send you this small powerful book for free. It was written by a woman who never called herself a prophet; she only claimed to be a messenger for God. The decision is yours but remember what Paul tells us.
20 Do not despise prophecies. 21 Test all things; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:20-22
